Take minimalist design and combine it with dramatic length, and you're left with a show-stopping veil.
For her wedding at St Michael’s Church in Alnwick, Northumberland, Britten Bride Laura chose to wear our silk style wedding veil - 'Isabella'. Bright, blue, and breezy, the beachside setting was the perfect location for showing off the full majesty of the lightweight bridal veil with its movement and flow captured perfectly by Andy Hudson Photography.
Laura accessorised the beautifully embellished ‘Taylor’ gown by Jenny Packham, from The Bride in St Albans, with her veil and Jimmy Choo bridal shoes
“I’ve always been attracted to Jenny Packham gowns and my wedding was really the only opportunity I’d get to wear one. I deliberately tried on other dresses and other styles first but of course, when I started trying the Jenny Packham dresses on, the style immediately suited me more than any other designers.
Laura opted for natural shades of makeup, finished off with a pretty pink lip from make up artist Victoria Holdstock. Then, with her loose curls arranged in a half up half down hairstyle, the Isabella veil was secured at the crown of Laura's head. Her hair stylist Tina Elliott provided a little volume at the crown to give her bridal hairstyle some extra height, perfectly complementing the placement of the veil.
“I was apprehensive about finding the right hair stylist and make- up artist but both Tina and Victoria created beautiful looks. Pleasing a bride, five bridesmaids and two mums is no mean feat but each one of us loved our look.”
Arriving in style in a 1968 Mk2 Jaguar and luxury VW camper from Brooklands Wedding Cars, the emotional ceremony took place inside the church, holding a special significance for the couple, and Laura was walked down the aisle by her dad.
“My dad walked me down the aisle. We’re very close and it was a special moment for us both. I’m not sure who was more emotional, my dad or James. There were some wobbly bottom lips!”
After the reception, the bride and groom also managed some time alone together with a walk along the beach, before returning to Newton Hallfor an evening of celebrations.
“Our favourite part of the day was escaping to the beach between the wedding breakfast and evening reception. Newton Hall also made sure that James and I had half an hour just the two of us before the wedding breakfast. We sat in the sun with a cocktail and it was the perfect opportunity to catch our breath.”
Laura and James had a lot of fun cutting the four-tier cake made by James' mum and aunty, which was decorated with the same floral colour scheme and foliage as the bridal party flowers and table decorations.
James and Laura chose ‘I want to hold your hand’ by The Beatles for their first dance as man and wife, and they were soon joined by their friends and family on the dancefloor.
“Redwings were our band in the evening. I’d seen them play at my friend’s wedding two years prior and loved that their playlist wasn’t your usual wedding reception selection. They had everyone up dancing all night and we had a lot of great comments.”
We're delighted that Laura shared these beautiful images of her wedding day with Love My Dress, and we absolutely adore the photograph of the beach breeze catching the tulle to show off the Isabella veil in all its glory. Thank you Laura and James.
