How to Bustle a Wedding Veil
Its all about the veil as you walk down the aisle but what happens when it is time to dance? A bustle can help you move with ease while keeping your look effortlessly bridal. Here’s how to elegantly secure your veil so you can enjoy every moment of your day.
Pinning The Veil
Gently locate the middle of the veil’s train—this doesn’t need to be exact, but a symmetrical bustle will create the most polished look. If possible, ask a bridesmaid or friend to assist. Gather the tulle and lift It towards the comb. The point where you gather the fabric depends on your veil length. For cathedral veils, begin approximately 1 to 1.5 metres from the end. For shorter styles, adjust based on how much length you’d like to lift, ideally aiming for fingertip or ballet length. Experiment by pinching different sections and lifting them toward the comb until you find the most flattering shape. Once you’ve found the perfect placement, secure the veil with one of these elegant methods:
• A delicate brooch or heirloom pin – Thread the pin through 1-2 inches of the tulle for a secure hold, then fasten it discreetly to the veil’s comb. This adds a meaningful touch while keeping the veil beautifully in place.
• A simple safety pin – If a brooch isn’t available, a small safety pin will do the job just as well. Pin the gathered fabric to the comb. You can then hide this under a hair accessory.
Tucking the comb under itself
Slide the veil’s comb underneath a section of hair and secure it with discreet pins. (This will only shorten the veil a little unless you have long hair!
Using a wrist loop
Some veils come with a hidden loop at the end, allowing you to elegantly drape it over your wrist while dancing and mingling. We can add this to our veils if you would like.
A Little Tip
Practice bustling your veil before the big day so everything feels effortless when the moment arrives.
