Pastel pinks, bright whites, and oak tones contributed to the light and dreamy colour palette of the rustic inspired countryside wedding theme of Britten Bride Cerys.
With the sun shining down on their summer wedding, the smiles and embraces fo the newlyweds were caught on camera in the relaxed and friendly style of Gareth Scanlon Photography.
Cerys choose a stunning Aire Barcelona wedding dress from CocoMio Bridal, Cardiff. Adding a subtle hint of colour to her look, her gown featured a V-shaped neckline with pale pink shades showing through the elegant lace overlay. The bridal gown was finished off with a silver and crystal embellished belt detail and was the perfect fit for the beautiful bride, thanks to her sister Nia who used her seamstress skills to alter the gown in the days leading up to the wedding.
When it came to her makeup look, Cerys opted for a sophisticated smoky eye by Kirsty Rowlands Makeup, with hair styled by the Slay Queens into a low loose chignon with face-framing soft curls. Her hairstyle created the perfect opportunity to reveal our wedding drop earrings silver, pearl, and crystal 'Iris' adding even more sparkle and shimmer to her bridal look.
She also accessorised her wedding dress with stunning shoes from Topshop and a romantic church length veil by Huw Rees Brides.
The team of bridesmaids wore pale pink halterneck gowns from Phase Eight, with Cerys' little flower girl wearing a cute white chiffon dress by Huw Rees Brides with a white bow in her hair.
The bridal party all carried matching bouquets of pale pink roses with eucalyptus leaves from Blodau Pinc florists as they accompanied the bride to the ceremony.
The couple said 'I do' in the quaint St Catherine's Church in Brynamman, and a particular highlight for Cerys was walking down the aisle to meet her best friend and seeing all their family and friends in one place.
'Our whole wedding ceremony was in Welsh and most of the speeches (apart from mine!). It meant a lot to us to have as much as possible in our mother tongue - even the waiter and waitresses spoke Welsh! It's our first language so it was all so natural and special to us.'
Once the couple left the church, their guests headed for Caerhyn Venue in Llangadog. Here they were greeted with delightful converted stone barns complete with an open courtyard and landscaped gardens right in the heart of the Welsh countryside.
'One of my favourite moments, was walking into the barn and seeing the finished product after all my hard work'
After planning and organising the day herself, taking inspiration from Pinterest, Brides magazine, Berta Bridal, Rock My Wedding, and us (of course!), Cerys met the wedding party in the spacious oak beamed setting, decorated with more fresh flowers in the form of pale pink rose table arrangements, and a backdrop featuring the bride and groom's names in illuminated marquee-style letters.
After enjoying drinks in the courtyard, the newlyweds and their guests sat down to food provided by Holden's Catering and watched as the couple cut into the minimalist three-tier naked cake decorated with fresh pink roses by Cake DeeVine.
When it came to the speeches, there were a few surprises to come:
'Our best man had written a song rather than doing a speech and performed it with his acoustic guitar. It was great to see everyone singing the chorus by the end!'
Once the singing was over, it was Cerys' turn to speak. She hadn't planned on doing a speech, but when the wedding guests started chanting her name once the other speeches ended, she had to get up and deliver a very short and spontaneous speech, which became one of the most unforgettable moments of the day.
The couple then took to the dancefloor for their first dance as man and wife, dancing to a Welsh song called 'Môr o Gariad', which translates to 'A Sea of Love', by Meic Stevens
‘ Ben fy hun
Heno ‘sdim amynedd
I helbul byd.
Ond mae’r nos yn ffoi,
Fel mae’r byd yn troi.
Fel y môr o gariad.
A roddais iti
All on my own
This evening I have no patience
For the turmoils of the World.
But the night is escaping
As the World turns.
Like the sea of love
That I gave to you.
The party soon got into full swing thanks to wedding band The Grade, who played a range of songs from the 60s to modern chart hits well into the night.
