From historic Bath to picturesque Normandy, the union of real bride Julie to groom Mike saw their declaration of love being made across two locations and in two languages.
Starting in the UK, the couple enjoyed an intimate ceremony at Bath registry office. After this first ceremony, Julie and Mike went back to their English cottage with their parents, brothers, sister and close friends, before moving onto a larger wedding celebration in France later that week.
Just a few days later the bride, groom and their small wedding party crossed the Channel to the Normandy countryside, to meet up with other relatives, members of the wider family, and even more friends.
To house the growing wedding party, Julie and Mike rented the stunning Domaine de Soignolles, right in the heart of rural France. This farmhouse venue meant everybody could stay on site for the night allowing time for the two families to get to know each other and unwind before the big day.
The beautiful surroundings of Soignolles, Normandie and the domaine offered a dreamy rustic aesthetic to complement the theme of the wedding. All of which was captured perfectly in the photographic style of Emmanuelle and Laurent at Vogue Photography
For her French wedding, Julie wore the vintage-inspired yet highly sophisticated Verlaine bridal gown by Laure de Sagazan, bought at The Mews Bridal in Clifton, Bristol. The wedding dress featured a blouson style scalloped lace top with capped sleeves blending into the clean lines of a straight silk skirt, with pearl buttons adding delicate detail to this elegant modern gown.
Taking care of her own hair and make-up, Julie wore her hair in a half up half down style with her natural brunette lengths complementing the natural effect of her fresh-faced makeup. She accessorised her bridal look with our gold baby's breath hair vine "Mila", worn in a halo position around her wedding hairstyle. The delicate pearl features of the hair vine helped to add an additional ethereal essence to an already romantic bridal outfit.
Julie completed her look with shoes from Debenhams, flowers from a local florist in Normandie, and a faux fur jacket to keep away the early spring chill.
The domaine provided the ideal setting for their lovely bilingual humanist wedding ceremony, which allowed them to truly personalise their wedding and bring their two families even closer.
Julie entered the wedding venue to the song "Blessings" by Chance the Rapper feat Ty Dolla Sign, and the bride and groom invited special family members to give readings:
After the ceremony, the wedding guests enjoyed a wedding dinner at the domaine, allowing the bride and groom to reflect on one of their most favourite moments of the day:
'To see our two families, from different countries and talking different languages, coming together. Everybody made the effort and the best men did an amazing speech in French.'
They cut the beautiful wedding cake made by Julie's sister in law, before taking to the dancefloor for their first dance to 'At Last' by Etta James. The wedding party soon got started with guests dancing the night away until 5am the morning after.
After the wedding, Julie and Mike set off for Santorini and Mykonos for a May honeymoon where they 'truly had the best time!'.
