When Britten Bride Brooke struggled to find her perfect wedding dress before her August wedding day, it was time for her stunning cathedral length bridal veil to take centre stage.
The couple tied the knot in the cosy rustic setting of the historic Grade II listed Michelmersh Barns near Romsey, where the most touching and joyful moments of the day were captured in the classic yet modern style of photographer Alisa Roberts Photography.
On her wedding day, Brooke wore her ‘back up’ dress, a preloved wedding gown bought via Oxfam Online despite not being completely in love with it. But the minimalist design of the ivory satin A-line dress, featuring a simple pleated design at the bust and a floor length full skirt, gave the perfect opportunity to add some breathtaking accessories.
Because she had run out of time to find ‘THE dress’, her cut edge silk style wedding veil with extra long blusher 'Layla' was the ideal addition to her bridal wardrobe, helping Brooke to feel extra special in her exquisite ‘something new’.
Adding an extra hint of colour to the day, Brooke found the perfect combination of style and comfort in shoes from New Look. The bride bought two pairs, allowing her to switch from ivory shoes worn during the wedding ceremony to a blue pair for the evening celebrations.
With her blonde hair styled into a chic low up-do by hairstylist Charlotte Louise Carey, and romantic natural makeup tones by Pipa Cross from Be You Weddings, Brooke completed her bridal look with a large bouquet of white roses and green and silver foliage from Lottie Pugh Florist.
Brooke walked down the aisle with her veil blusher covering her face and the full length of the luxurious veil fabric on show. In an emotional moment, her father helped her to lift the extra long blusher as he gave her away to her new husband to be.
Looking back fondly on the moment, the couple had arranged for a saxophone and string trio to play during the wedding ceremony which accidentally led to one of the most memorable parts of the day:
‘We had a congregational song of L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole which just went really wrong as everybody started singing over the saxophone solo but it really was hilarious to watch all our guests descend into laughter.’
As they exchanged vows, the love between the two was celebrated with two readings during the ceremony; ‘Love’ by Roy Croft, and an extract from 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin' by Louis de Bernieres.

Following the ceremony, the bride, groom, and their guests moved to a fun-filled reception held at Brooke’s best friend's house.
Brooke had some help from wedding planner Nicola Wray at Behind The Scenes Events who helped to coordinate the whole day, and at the reception, the wedding party enjoyed catering provided by Savage Event Catering and a gorgeous cake made by a friend.
For their first dance, husband and wife chose the song ‘Budapest’ by George Ezra, with the song holding a special significance as the city of Budapest was where the pair got engaged, and their family and friends were entertained by vintage style cover band Victoriana from Tailored Entertainment.
After their wedding day, the husband and wife team jetted off to Sri Lanka and the Maldives for their honeymoon.
