From teen sweethearts to brand new newly-weds, Britten bride Jodie married her childhood love Jordan in a romantic wedding of blush pinks and floral finishing touches.
The couple said ‘I do’ at contemporary wedding venue The Oak Tree of Peover in Knutsford, and the special moments of the day were caught on camera by photographer Tom Calton based in Peterborough.
“Tom manages to take the most beautiful images that almost look like they are staged when in reality, you’re just enjoying your wedding day. I’ve never seen anyone capture emotion like he manages to do. I’m so pleased we managed to have him as our photographer.”
A perpetual romantic, Jodie wore a stunning boat neckline gown with a lace fitted body and a lace-edged train by Provonias, bought from Brides of Chester. The delicate lace and sparkling floral applique features of the dress were paired perfectly with the elegant simplicity of our cathedral length lace flower motif wedding veil Paisley, discovered via Love My Dress. Featuring silver thread in the lace motif, the shimmering veil complemented the crystal and silver beaded bridal belt worn by the bride to bring the whole look together.
“I just loved how the dress looked on me straight away. I never thought I would have that feeling when trying on a wedding dress. I had tried on quite a few dresses that were plain lace, which is what I thought I wanted, but as soon as I saw the dress sparkle under the shop lights, I loved it. The fit was also very feminine, but classy at the same time.”
From her scent to her shoes, Jodie added beautiful accessories to complete her bridal look. She wore ivory Skalett heels from Ted Baker, Swarovski earrings, an Adore bracelet, and a layered blend of peony, blush suede, wood sage and sea salt perfume from Jo Malone.
Jordan, the groom, wore his RAF number one uniform for the ceremony and daytime celebrations, later changing into a French Connection via Moss Bros suit for the evening reception.
Wearing full-length blush pink dresses from Coast with lace detailing to match our Britten bride, Jodie’s bridesmaids looked exquisite. Her bridesmaids accessorised with simple diamond stud earrings, and a bracelet from ChloBo as a thank you gift from Jodie, given to them as they got ready on the morning of the wedding.
The bride and her bridesmaids carried bouquets of blush pink and ivory roses with bright green foliage, with each member of the bridal party wearing a fresh flower hairpiece. The rose theme could also be found throughout the wedding venue and the reception, with structured floral arrangements used to style the celebrations, all created by Abergele based florists Dorothy’s Florist.
“It was also the venue that gave us most of the inspiration behind the theme of the wedding. There was so much beautiful greenery and light, so we decided to just add more of that with floral arrangements and candles. I love burning candles and I loved the romantic feel they gave to the venue.”
“My brother Jake walked with me down the aisle to Canon in D played by a live string quartet. We chose this because we thought it sounded beautiful and I didn’t want anything too emotional as I was scared I would cry a little too much! We walked out of the ceremony to One Day Like This by Elbow. That song really means a lot to us and it felt like a more upbeat song to start off a day of celebrations with.”
During the ceremony, the couple exchanged rings from H Samuel as well as their vows, before leaving the venue in a maelstrom of confetti to greet their delighted guests.
“Seeing all our guests smiling at us after we got married was also really special and the moment Jordan and I had together just after the ceremony, where we just couldn’t stop smiling.”
Moving swiftly across the grounds from the ceremony, the oak framed building provided the perfect light and bright location for the wedding breakfast, where the wedding party enjoyed a drinks and cigars reception before taking their seats at the beautifully decorated tables.
“We didn’t need to add much to the reception venue but for the ceremony, we hired pillar candles, clear pillars and an ivory aisle runner from Flossie’s to give the room a romantic feel. We decorated the mantlepiece by the bar with a silk floral garland and a mix of Jo Malone scented candles and non-scented candles. We had a balloon from Bubblegum Balloons and a sign from Meeandes with our wedding hashtag. For our tables, we had hurricane style vases with fresh flowers for the centre and candles around the edge.”
Anticipating hungry appetites following the excitement of the morning, the couple had arranged for Pizza Principles pizza to be served straight from a wood fire oven, topped with delicious ingredients including salami, nduja sausage, and marinara.
The wedding cake was also full of personal touches, as well as mouthwatering flavours.
“Our cake was made by a family friend. The top-tier was coffee and walnut flavour, the middle was chocolate and the bottom vanilla. My auntie added fresh flowers around the side on the morning of the wedding and we added a cake topper from Not On The High Street. Our theme was greenery and I thought fresh flowers would complement that nicely. My husband and I aren’t keen on fondant icing so we went for a white chocolate ganache instead.”
Once the pizza was eaten and the speeches were over, the newlyweds got the party started with their first dance as man and wife.
“We chose Grow Old With Me by Tom Odell for our first dance song. We decided on it because we have always really liked the song and the words really resemble our relationship as we’ve been together since we were teenagers. Plus, we liked that it wasn’t too slow and romantic, it was fun and got everyone else up and dancing too.”
Jodie was also keen to share her advice for ensuring the morning of your wedding is stress-free and enjoyable, plus some tips for spending time with, and looking after, your guests:
“Make sure everything is done, have a friend or professional set everything up in the venue and just relax. The morning is such a special time with your loved ones and it should be fun and exciting without any worries.”
“As we got married on a Sunday, we also had a big breakfast the day before with around twenty of our family and friends to get the celebrations started. It was so nice to have this and it felt like we almost had a wedding weekend.”
“We didn’t have any canapes on the day and in hindsight, we wish we had spent the extra money and got them. Our guests didn’t seem to mind too much but I think it would have been nice to have something after the ceremony to see people through to the wedding breakfast. Dedicating a good amount of your budget to food and drink is definitely something I’d recommend.”
