When you think of a February wedding, the cool ice tones of a crisp winter's day might be one of the first things that comes to mind..and the last thing Britten Bride Anna expected before her wedding day was a quick last minute shopping trip to Primark for some sunglasses for her and her groom, Richard.
'We had amazing weather which was really quite a surprise in its own right'
The sunshine, smiles, and plastic sunglasses were all caught on camera in the colourful and emotive style of Kerry from A Tall Long Legged Bird Photography, along with all the magical moments of the day. The couple also hired videographers Sky Weddings to film everything between the build-up and preparation to the night time carriages.
Timeless and dazzling, Anna wore the Nadiagown by wedding dress designer Ronald Joyce. The mikado A-line gown with a beautifully beaded illusion neckline and belt detail was bought at Krystle Brides in Bath, and gave Anna a traditional yet chic bridal silhouette.
Teaming her gown with neutral lips and a soft smoky eye by make-up artist Leanna Briggs, she completed her look with a white personalised "Mrs" Katie Loxton clutch and shoes from Ted Baker:
'These were the very first thing I bought for the wedding, I think before booking a venue. I just saw them on the catwalk in another colour at a wedding show and really liked them. Then I saw the blue velvet and rose gold and fell in love. They shaped the rest of my outfit and a lot of the decorative choices on the day!'
Anna wore her hair up with face-framing curls, adding our Flora multipiece in rose gold as a halo around her head.
To match the sparkle of her wedding dress, Anna visited our boutique in Bradford upon Avon to create her own bespoke version of the cathedral length illusion drop veil with crystal scatter 'Marina' adding an Amara lace motif detail.
Anna carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses, tonal blooms, and green foliage, made by Emma Norton Flowers as she walked down the aisle decorated with arrangements from the florist.
Taking inspiration from Pinterest, Anna and Richard pieced together their perfect day, with a little help from wedding stylist Kirsten Butler at The Little Wedding Helper, by adding their own ideas and sourcing suppliers for those extra special finishing touches.
The ceremony and the drinks reception were held at Anna's old school, Prior Park College Chapel and Mansion, before the wedding party were transported by a traditional double-decker bus to Priston Mill for the reception.
The wedding breakfast catering was provided by Priston Mill, and the three-tiered white, blue, and gold wedding cake was lovingly made by Anna's mum and brother. The delicious cake featured marbled icing, gold ribbons, and fresh eucalyptus leaves, topped with a gold monogram cake topper featuring the couple's initials, and even came complete with 'a whole load of macaroons!'.
Looking back on her wedding, Anna shared one of her highlights from the day:
‘I really enjoyed being able to get up and make a speech, including a toast to Richard, my husband - which really caught him off guard after I read a little extract from Les Miserables:
'One particularly special point was our first dance to Feeling Good by Muse. We had dance lessons and a specially choreographed routine which none of our guests knew anything about so that was really special seeing the looks of surprise on their faces!'
A week after the wedding, the newlyweds headed off to the Maldives for a honeymoon filled with bliss and relaxation.
